Artist Karyn Denten at Den10 Studio Gallery standing in front of her abstract painting from the collection A Story to Tell.

Karyn earned her BFA in Visual Communications and built a career as a graphic designer for over 20 years in Southern California and Chicago.

Her background in design brings a sense of composition and structure to her expressive paintings. In her abstract art, Karyn’s marks and brush strokes represent the bold, messy leaps we take toward our aspirations, while the color blocks capture those quiet moments of contemplation along the way.

Karyn’s process involves mark-making and layering colors. She relates the layers peeking through to the way we tell our story to the world: what we choose to share, what we keep to ourselves.

Through this process, her paintings become more than compositions of color and form; they are reflections of authenticity and vulnerability.

Karyn Denten’s work has been exhibited throughout the Midwest in galleries and juried exhibitions. Her work has also been featured in Studio Visit Magazine and Real Simple.

Karyn is the co-owner of Den10 Studio, a contemporary fine art gallery in La Grange, Illinois, where her working studio is located. She creates her paintings there while also curating exhibitions alongside her family. at den10Studio.com.
